Pogues- Greenland Whale Fisheries
This is a traditional sea shanty about whale fishing in 1846, however I’m told it was actually written much earlier in the 18th century. I don’t like it so much more the lyrical content, the music gives a real feel of bouncing up and down on the waves. The story is about a boat going out to Greenland to fish for whales, when they finally find a whale it capsizes the boat and they loose half the crew.
